Poison Tree
03:45
|
|||
I was angry with my friend;
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe:
I told it not, my wrath did grow.
And I waterd it in fears,
Night & morning with my tears:
And I sunned it with smiles,
And with soft deceitful wiles.
And it grew both day and night.
Till it bore an apple bright.
And my foe beheld it shine,
And he knew that it was mine.
And into my garden stole,
When the night had veild the pole;
In the morning glad I see;
My foe outstretched beneath the tree.

Disregard Expectations
03:40
|
|||
Wake up every morning,
Going through the day,
Doing all your dutys,
Working mechanically
Like everyone expects you to
You decide how they want
And how i'ts right.
But what you really want to do is
Scream out all your fears,
Tell the world your sorrows
Not hold them back
Not hide them anymore
So break through all the fences
Blow up your chains
Don't let them hold you back.

Come walk with me
03:39
|
|||
Come, walk with me,
There’s only thee
To bless my spirit now –
We used to love on winter nights
To wander through the snow;
Can we not woo back old delights?
The clouds rush dark and wild
They fleck with shade our mountain heights
The same as long ago
And on the horizon rest at last
In looming masses piled;
While moonbeams flash and fly so fast
We scarce can say they smiled –
Come walk with me, come walk with me;
We were not once so few
But Death has stolen our company
As sunshine steals the dew –
He took them one by one and we
Are left the only two;
So closer would my feelings twine
Because they have no stay but thine –
‚Nay call me not – it may not be
Is human love so true?
Can Friendship’s flower droop on for years
And then revive anew?
No, though the soil be wet with tears,
How fair soe’er it grew
The vital sap once perished
Will never flow again
And surer than that dwelling dread,
The narrow dungeon of the dead
Time parts the hearts of men -‚

Me and my hands
04:45
|
|||
Like a desert without water
I'm longing for the rain
Searching for a resting
That I will never get
That I may not even think about
So I leave my hands in my pocket
Me and my hands
Together we will make it through
Me and my hands
We'll get this hurricane go low
I will hold them back
From taking this pill
This shaking it will stay
Never get near the waterfall
The hunger still unsatisfied
My hands I lay down in my lap
Staying nice and calm
Waiting for the never coming end
Me and my hands
Together we will make it through
Me and my hands
We'll get this hurricane go low
I will hold them back
From taking this pill

Alone
03:27
|
|||
From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view,
Of a demon
In my view.
